Our Journey: A Timeline

1998

Luis Guimarães, inspired by his own experience as a ballet student, begins designing and manufacturing dancewear. Combining his expertise in textiles and industrial design with a newfound passion for ballet, he lays the foundation for what would become Ballet Rosa.

2010

Ballet Rosa is officially founded by Luis Guimarães and Adão Coelho. The brand’s commitment to innovation and artistry is immediately recognized with the launch of the Essentiels Collection, offering dancers unparalleled customization and quality.

2014

In Paris, Luis meets Isabelle Ciaravola, Étoile dancer from the Paris Opera Ballet. Their collaboration leads to the creation of the Créateur Collection, a line of seductive and innovative designs that redefine elegance in ballet.

2017

Ballet Rosa’s catalog photoshoots span iconic locations from New York to Paris, Lisbon, and Minsk, reflecting the brand’s global vision. The collection
solidifies Ballet Rosa as a symbol of sophistication for dancers worldwide.

2018

This year marks the beginning of a long-lasting and fruitful partnership with renowned photographer Joe Lyman, whose work breathes new life and inspiration into Ballet Rosa’s designs. His visionary artistry becomes a cornerstone of Ballet Rosa’s branding and creative direction, setting a new standard for how dancewear is presented and perceived.

2019

The 2019 Collection draws inspiration from travels across 17 countries, art museum visits, and insights from dancers around the world. The collaboration with dancers from The Joffrey Ballet and BalletMet brings the designs to life.

This year also sees the launch of Soloists x Retailers, an innovative social media program that, for the first time, connects Ballet Rosa Ambassadors with retailers. The goal of this initiative is to bridge the online and in-store
experience, allowing ambassadors to drive customer engagement and traffic
directly to local dancewear stores. By linking the power of online influence
with physical retail, Soloists x Retailers strengthens Ballet Rosa's relationship with retailers and reinforces the value of in-person shopping experiences.

2020

Amidst the global Covid-19 pandemic, Ballet Rosa rises to the challenge of supporting the dance community. The brand designs and patents an original and revolutionary product—Barreguard—to enable dancers to safely use the barre while mitigating the risk of viral transmission. This innovation becomes a symbol of Ballet Rosa’s adaptability, ingenuity, and commitment to the well-being of dancers

To further support dancers during this period, Ballet Rosa launches a new collection of facemasks adapted to dancers' unique needs, ensuring breathability, comfort, and style for use during rehearsals, classes, and performances.

In addition, Ballet Rosa begins partnerships with major dance events like the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and the Dance World Cup, showcasing its collections directly to dancers, teachers, and choreographers from around the world.

This year also sees the launch of a new product line specifically for dance studios. By working closely with dancers, teachers, and choreographers, Ballet Rosa ensures an optimal fit, comfort, and performance. This collaborative process leads to the release of the Academy Catalog, offering a specialized range of products tailored to meet the needs of dance schools and academies.

2021

Ballet Rosa takes a monumental step by launching the very first and only catalog and collections exclusively for male dancers, addressing a long-overlooked need in the dancewear market.

2022

Ballet Rosa launches an enhanced version of its Academy products, now made with Tencel, a sustainable fabric that offers fast-wicking properties, cotton-like feel, and temperature control.

2023

Ballet Rosa strengthens its presence in the dance community by teaming up with Global Dance Open, All Dance, and All Dance International. Additionally, Ballet Rosa redesigns its Academy Catalog, introducing a Logo Program, new colors, and more customization options.

2024

Ballet Rosa unveils the New Créateur Collection, brought to life through the participation of professional dancers from various styles and companies. Captured by the lens of Joe Lyman, this collection celebrates the artistry, movement, and beauty of dance.

2025

Ballet Rosa takes decisive action to reduce its carbon footprint by discontinuing all printed paper catalogs, price lists, and documents. Instead, the brand launches a state-of-the-art B2B website, a new consumer website, and an advanced management and shipping system, ensuring a fully digital, efficient, and sustainable experience for retailers and customers alike.

This year also sees the debut of the Vitalité Collection, featuring a cutting-edge performance compression fabric sourced from Italy. Designed to push the boundaries of resistance, flexibility, and recovery, this innovative
collection empowers dancers to achieve their best performance.

2026 and Beyond

Ballet Rosa continues to push the boundaries of design, sustainability, and performance innovation, further solidifying its role as a global leader in dancewear.
